Amgid

Amgid was a Jaredite king who ruled during the time when several generations of the family of Hearthom lived in captivity (Ether 10:30-31). This period saw a succession of Jaredite rulers, and Amgid was one of them.

According to the record in Ether 10:32, Amgid engaged in a long civil war with the king Com. Eventually, Com was able to gain power over the remainder of the kingdom and depose Amgid.

The text does not provide many details about Amgid’s reign or the specifics of the civil war between him and Com. However, it is clear that Amgid’s rule was marked by political instability and conflict that ultimately led to his downfall at the hands of Com.

The captivity of Hearthom’s descendants, including Heth, Aaron, Coriantum, and Com, seems to have coincided with this period of Jaredite history when the kingdom was divided and rulers fought for control. Amgid was one of the kings who reigned during this tumultuous time before being deposed by Com after a prolonged civil war [Ether 10:30-32].
